Beyond the post-apocalyptic whale refinery, we hiked further into the future, across the South Georgia mountain range, to a place where man is forgotten.
Climbing with my father again, after many years, makes me notice how our dynamic has changed now that I am also a father. Instead of being completely in the moment with him there, my mind is also at home, with my girls. Will has his own particular relationship with his father too, an even more quiet man than Will is. Robert Headland makes this hike very interesting considering that this is the place he has spent the most time in his life, never having spent more than 2 1/2 years in a single place. Quite a lost part of the world to settle.
